Summer Man is an all-vinyl DJ who cut his teeth in the Garage, Soul, Surf, and Exotica scenes in NYC for a dozen or so years before relocating to Santa Fe in February of 2020. Specializing in the above genres in addition to the most exciting sounds from the 1950s through the 1980s, he draws upon a deep appreciation for the exuberant and the odd to bring intrigue, excitement, and atmosphere to various occasions. Whether it's the soundtrack for igniting a late-night dance floor, sipping tropical libations in a dimly lit cozy corner, a community event, or the rarified holy grail of contexts: the almighty beach party, Summer Man's borderless enthusiasm (with the help of his trusty ever-expanding record collection) serve up the scintillating sounds to satiate and to sustain a swingin' time!

Have Summer Man DJ your next record hop, Halloween party, or other event!

I started DJing around Brooklyn & NYC in 2008. From then until 2020, I had regular monthly DJ nights (Thee Crazy Cave at Don Pedro, Scream Loud! at Cain’s Tavern), DJ’d annually on Record Store Day and Halloween, in addition to guest spots here and there, and even DJ’d a few especially hip weddings in the Northeast.

In 2020, I relocated to Santa Fe, NM, and have slowly begun DJing more and more frequently. I spin all vinyl and specialize in the following genres and subgenres:

  • ‘60s garage, psych, teen idols, soul, sunshine, bubblegum, and pop

  • Surf

  • Exotica

  • Girl Groups

  • Uptempo Doo-Wop

  • Yé-Yé + World Beat

  • ‘80s / New Wave

  • South American Psych-Pop

  • Early Country + Rockabilly

That said, I love playing records for folks to enjoy and typically like to mix it up a bit within a given set. I can be as focused or diverse as you’d like within the extremely loose confines of my collection and am constantly expanding on and adding to said collection.

PLEASE NOTE: I only DJ in SMOKE-FREE environments where I (and my records) will be guaranteed not to be subjected to second-hand smoking or vaping of any kind. (Smoke from a fireplace or fire pit is okay!)
